One of the world’s greatest living painters, Gerhard Richter has spent over half a century experimenting with a tremendous range of ideas and techniques in his enigmatic artwork. This fly-on-the-wall documentary reveals his ingenious process as he mixes layer upon layer of bold colors, smears the paint with a giant squeegee and scrapes away at the canvas. Includes rare archival footage and intimate conversations with Richter’s critics and collaborators. (Corinna Belz, 2011, 97 min.) Reception to follow screening.
