Los Angeles Philharmonic
Designing The Marriage of Figaro: A Talk with Jean Nouvel and Azzedine Alaia
111 S. Grand Avenue
Los Angeles, CA 90012
Three of the greatest operas ever created were collaborations between librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte and composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Don Giovanni, The Marriage of Figaro, and Così fan tutte. Over three years, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, under Gustavo Dudamel, is presenting the miraculous trilogy on the stage of Walt Disney Concert Hall, with costumes by the world’s leading fashion designers and sets created by three of the most influential architects of our time: Frank Gehry (Giovanni), Jean Nouvel (Figaro), and Zaha Hadid (Così).
In conjunction with Pacific Standard Time Presents, the LA Phil will host a discussion with Jean Nouvel and designer Azzedine Alaia who has created the costumes for this year’s production. Taking place on the Figaro set and moderated by LA Phil President & CEO Deborah Borda, this talk explores the set’s relationship to the Hall and the unique nature of this collaborative, interdisciplinary series.
Open to the public; fee event, tickets are $3, on sale April 8 at 10:00 am. See below link of or call 323.850.2000.
