This event is organized into four broad themes— Architectural Discourse, Professional Practice, L.A.’s Layered Built Environment, and Artistic Interpretations of L.A. The themes will be addressed via an engaging blend of formal lectures, dynamic conversations, short film interludes and unique performances. The goals of the symposium are to analyze and debate complex issues related to L.A.’s layered architectural history and its ongoing evolution.
Participants on Day 2 include artists Peter Alexander, Judy Fiskin, John Humble, Michael Light, and Don Normark, filmmaker Thom Andersen, film historian Marc Wanamaker, scholars Eric Avila and Cathy Gudis, and archivists Mark Langill and Matt Roth.
